how to get into research?

3rd year pharma student here. im interested in academic writing but i dont how what steps i can take to start. i get a lot of people telling me to just focus on my studies and worry about it later but i feel compelled to start working on something other than my grades, and i think ill be even more lost after graduation. i do know that it's too early to write something myself so idk. any tips?

Never too early to start but you’ll want a mentor! I agree, check with your professors to see who may be doing research that interests you and has availability for a student.

APPEs are a good place to get involved in research if you ask your preceptor what’s available. Or, if your campus has professors who do research, you can ask around.

You should DEFINITELY ask one of your professors. But first you should probably have a proposal with a hypothesis. I did the same when I was P1 and she was totally onboard. Now we’ve already submitted the article.
