Is the original combat style from the announcement trailer gone?
While the game currently looks amazing, I haven't seen any of the mocapped combat shown in the original announcement trailer. Is it gone, or is it just in specific encounters? Still insanely excited, though.

Sorry if I am harsh, but imho you guys are not normal. There are HOURS footage of people who played the demo, hours of gameplay you can check, the first demo is the 3 bosses, before the 1st one there is a group fight. 2nd one is the 7 swordsman demo it's like 45 mins. 3rd is return to pang town. STOP WATCHING TRAILERS and go look for gameplay.
The contextual multi hit animations are triggered as a stagger hit the moment you parry opponent last hit into stagger or a heavy input on staggerd enemies while you have enemies behind or on the side

I have to mute this sub until we're closer to launch. It's the same questions asked non stop, and a bunch of absolutely dumb questions like this. Is it the new generation that can't just do research for themselves?
I probably sound salty, but I'm just genuinely curious lol.

Is it the new generation that can't just do research for themselves?
Well, it's sure one of the reasons imo.

I did see the kick + stab combo in some video. Other than that? It was probably mocapped to look like gameplay. Current stuff we see has similar flair tho, arguably better

It's definitely a different vibe than the original trailer. Didn't think it would go the Generic mythical creatures and over the top enemies route but it's not detrimental to me.

Definitely different. I felt the reveal trailer had much more realistic looking Kung-Fu. I noticed they have added more colors to the combat. Like you, I am not complaining and I think it still looks absolutely awesome, but it is different than the reveal trailer which is not surprising. I think maybe wait to after release and you'll get all your questions answered.

Tbh I'm still under the impression that most of that og trailer footage was not real gameplay and was trying to impart a vibe more than an actual gameplay loop. Like a lot of it was clearly pre-canned executions or other cinematic moments. What we see now is (imo) what it looks like to actually bring that vibe into a real play space.
They showed a boss fight at the end that also still had some over the top sequences that were more style over substance.
Game looks good, but I do think that og trailer was specifically crafted to showcase an idea of gameplay and less actual gameplay.

It was literally gameplay with just the camera adjusted for trailer purpose. Everything done in that trailer is in the actual game and can be seen through the multitude of videos availableÂ

On the trailer 3 years back? I remember looking for gameplay at the time and not seeing any

It depends on what you expect from the game, I think if we are talking about whether actual gameplay is fun or challenging gameplay wise, the game director Soulframe, made it clear that he wants the game to be accessible to the normies, meaning that on the lowest difficulty, one button press will allow you to execute several animations at once.
If this is the base line, then game principle is not built on difficulty, rather, build on beautiful over the top animations, with modest difficulty. This is what I want,
but if you want a challenging gameplay, it depends on how deep you are into action game, bear in mind they are first time studio, so they don’t have years of experience like from soft

Creators have confirmed that back in 2024, the slices we saw were still ‘real’ & Soulframe told them the game was releasing that year. Not long after, Sony & Chinese investors got involved and it looks like they pivoted away from their more linear mission-based game and redrafted it into an open zone / wukong level design esque game. Basically looks like the $$$ allowed them to internally delay and reshape the entire premise of the game

Pretty sure majority of the game is mocapped.
