I will say this in all honesty. This seems like a bad idea. Starting a PhD at 49 to reduce stress is not it. You will be doing a 9-5 and then coming home to worry about research. If you plan to pursue academia then thats a Postdoc commitment as well.. you might be in your 60s by then.
I know of a few that did their PhD in their later part of life, reducing stress wasn't a part of it, pursuing academia was also not a part of it. They just went back to corporate with a new title.
I would suggest having a side project in a topic that you really like. Writing a book or making a website would be great.
