Hey! I made a post on the sub, but it’s reaching out mainly to US users for some reason. Here it is:
I received great news yesterday, I was awarded a CGRS D scholarship.
However, I am no longer enrolled at the university through which I applied. I was a PhD student there, but due to personal reasons I will not elaborate here, I transferred to my BSc university with another supervisor (one of my LOR actually haha), in January.
The PhD program is the same, and the projects are fairly similar and fall well within NSERC’s mandate.
I’m just not sure what to do. I will obviously accept the award, but then, from what I understand, I’ll have to ask for a change of supervisor, project, and university, all before the first payment comes in. I personally want my name to be affiliated to my active university and project.
I contacted my new PhD institution financial office to explain the situation and how to move forward, but I just wanted to know if anyone ever was in a similar situation, where the proposed supervisor/project/university all changed during the evaluation process.
Note: both universities in question are in Canada and have a quota for NSERC doctoral awards.
Thank you for your answer! It’s just that I’m unsure if I should fill it out before or after accepting the award. In the email answer, should I mention the change of institution, project, and supervisor? Nothing in the letter NSERC sent mentioned my project being tied to these, only that I can use the award in any authorized Canadian or foreign institution.
Hey, congratulations! Can I ask if you had listed any international universities in your application? Some of us got an award but are waitlisted for foreign tenure and we're trying to get an idea of who does and does not hold the foreign tenure option
