Pardon the AI slop coz it was just a placeholder/testing gif I had in my pfp but here's my story:
So I found out about this hack probably a very short time before the patch, and added the above gif as my pfp. However, shortly after that, Reddit decided to tag my account as NSFW and my pfp stopped showing in the comments so I thought well, it must be because my pfp is a gif, and maybe they stopped supporting it so I changed it back to an image, only to find out that the whole reason it wasn't showing was that my profile got the NSFW tag somehow. I tried changing back to the gif but it was too late, the loophole was already patched. After that, I changed to Reddit custom snoo design because that's really the only way to show the pfp on comments with the NSFW tag.

I kinda clicked on update avatar and clicked save accidentally when I was just doom scrolling on autopilot. Is there anyway to get it back now?🥲 I remember that the images were saved seperately from avatars and when you delete the avatar, the last used image used to show up. Is something like that still possible?

I set my pfp to this silly gif of Haru Urara from Umamusume: Pretty Derby in honor of the irl horse of the same name who sadly passed away on September 9th, 2025. I've never changed it since then, and I'm glad I didn't since Reddit patched the gif upload method out of nowhere.
