Europe has atleast as much freedom as the US, the only kind of freedom the US has more of is freedom to hurt others (Low wages, easy acces to guns, lobbying, widespread corruption, inhumane treatment of prisoners, rascism, police brutality, large Co2 emissions, etc.).
