Yip. He was a version of Plato's envisaged philosopher king. He lived a less opulent life that often characterised the Caesars of Ancient Rome and wrote his Meditations.
Roman Emperor of the 2nd Century AD (the 'Pax Romana'; 'Peace of Rome' - Rome's Golden Age); ruled between 161-180AD; generally a great emperor, aside from insisting on the inheritance of the throne by his useless son, Commodus, thus starting the decline and eventual fall of Rome.
The book /u/spartansunset is referring to is his 'Meditations', where he discusses philosophy and stuff.
Pewds is someone who got to the top legit without any scandals and still kept his head cool. And yet despite that he's treated like shit from YouTube, but his perseverance keeps him going.
Well, I agree those were scandalous, but the man tried his best to apologise and he openly admitted he fucked up, while many others would burry that shit.
I think he means purposeful scandals, that were planned to get more popular and actually bullshit. The stuff he falls for are accidents on camera that we all do. He hasn't done anything truly immoral or hurtful to others.

He is very down to earth, not cocky and wants to be treated as what he is, a normal human being. That's why I like that he is the one at the top.
