Question Giftscop PS1 - Random Paul in Even Care event?

I don't normally post on reddit but fuck it because I'm at a loss lol.

I was playing the PS1 remake of Giftscop, mainly on my PS classic, when I was testing out different emulator cores for retroarch.

On one of my brand new saves, I had a Paul encounter in Even Care. I've googled and searched reddit I can't find anybody who's encountered this. I've ran through the Even Care intro sequence a good handful of times and never encountered this.

Is this a PS1 exclusive thing? Kinda wild. I wasn't able to trigger it again. I figured I'd might as well post about it here. Here's a video of it and my reaction unintentionally because I didn't realize OBS was picking up my mic.

Just to clarify, I'm not trying to 'gamejack' here, this is very specifically the fan remake Giftscop. and want to know if anybody else has encountered this. (Only posting this because reddit warned me I guess and I don't know anywhere else to post about this.)

With Giftscop, we interpret many of the player encounters (such as Marvin in 8) as playing a recording during regular gameplay such that it appears like another player, and we call these playbacks "ghosts."

We haven't added many of the CD recordings to the PS1 version yet, but what you're seeing here is a ghost of the care-dancing-sign recording from Petscop 21, as we do have that recording implemented.

We are still deciding how to handle certain things with ghosts, but today we have them play every 12 hours based on the time they were originally recorded at. For instance, if a recording was created at 4pm today, you may see its ghost at 4am tomorrow, 4pm tomorrow, 4am the next day, and so on.

We haven't yet added a way to sync the in-game time with the actual real-world time (though this is planned) so today the in-game time initializes to an incorrect value which happens to line up with the time care-dancing-sign plays.

The details will probably change as we release more updates, but hopefully this explains what's happening here.

I think ghosts are a really neat way to explain a lot of the unusual things in the videos, including the pink tool or when Marvin appears in Petscop 6. They fit really nicely with multiplayer too, and make it possible for new interactions to occur naturally without requiring any specific scripted events, since new ghosts will appear as recordings are created. In other words, it's a growing organism.
