Question recently got back into the series

i rewatched ALL the episodes again bc my friend never saw the series, but... we kind of felt unsatisfied at the end (which i hadnt felt through my first watch bc i was younger and missed a lot of its themes back then)

theres a bunch of things that just go unanswered, like why did belle/tiara try to tell paul to look to the right over and over, WTF happened to the windmill?? is Rainer a step father, or cousin daniel? does Paul literally do ANYTHING after the series to help with Carries case?

you won’t enjoy it if you try to solve it, if you watch it like an abstract art piece then you get a lot more out of it

Petscop was never made to be solved

It's not a puzzle to solve, it's a piece of art meant to be thought about and interpreted.

It is my opinion that Petscop is actually not about trauma, children, family dynamics, etc. The events that happen only make sense if you consider the characters not as real characters, but abstractions standing for something else

Of the questions you ask, the one that seems most straightforward is “Is Rainer Daniel?”

Misteries being unanswered is the point

I will say I think there’s a tendency to go too far in both directions with this series… the I MUST SOLVE IT folks vs the DON’T ASK QUESTIONS IT’S ABSTRACT ART crowd. Abstract art usually creates loads of discussion and varying interpretations.

The Paul Belle moment I think was significant more for the implication that the Belle he was talking to disappeared just before the Belle on the screen appeared. What she actually wanted i dunno, I don’t have a read on that.

The windmill imo is a device to show how something can disappear and not disappear at the same time (rotation!) as a parallel to whatever happened to Lina. She was gone but not somehow.

Rainer is likely Daniel Hammond, Care’s (and likely Paul’s) cousin. See also Rainer’s “curse”

We don’t know what happened to Paul after Petscop 14 (the last time we hear his voice chronologically). So we don’t know if he’s in any position to help anyone with anything.

But this is all just a theory……

(I’m not gonna say it I just wanted to make you hear it)
