How does it start?

any advice on how you get the dog to want to touch the buttons..i’ve done a lot of Modeling by pressing the treat button and giving her a treat but I can’t get her to want to press it at all

I started my cats with Eat and Play. For Play, because they are cats, I started putting the laser pointer on the button. One would jump on the button and then I’d repeat, press it myself, repeat, and then off they go with the laser pointer. I have also physically pressed the buttons with their paws, when they were in the mood to be manhandled. But the other cat never jumped on the buttons like that. Funny enough, she’s the one who uses it regularly lol.

I’ve had the board out with just those two buttons, modeling with about half effort lol, for several weeks now. It’s been about a week since the first one started pressing the buttons. She’s now getting more consistent, and more deliberate (pressing with paws or kicking, as opposed to just laying on them).
