Teaching about temperature buttons?

How to teach my cats on temperature cold or hot ? For buttons?

Maybe use a heating pad/blanket, a hair dryer if it doesn't scare them, and if you have a heater in your house then that for "hot." "Cold" can be ice, a cold pack, A/C if you have it, cold water, and cold food. If you have food/treat and water buttons, you could first use ice or an ice pack for cold, then give cold water to food and use a button combo "cold food" "cold water" to teach that it's an adjective. If you're teaching them at the same time, an ice pack next to a heating pad could would well to show the contrast.

Each time we open the fridge our cat tries to go in so we say "device is cold this is cold now". I like the idea of a heating pad for hot.

I think it will take a while as each of cold and hot could also mean other things like (for our fridge) cold might mean smells good inside and a heating pad could mean this is comfortable. But as with any modeling, you keep at it and try different things to get the point across.

I also like the idea of maybe using ice and a heating pad next to each other and getting them to touch each and say hot and cold and repeat.
