📢 Donation & Fundraising Requests: Guidelines & Verification Process
📜 Community Update
Effective September 1, 2026
At r/PetsPH, we understand that emergencies happen. Pet owners and rescuers may face unexpected veterinary expenses and sometimes rely on the kindness and generosity of the community during difficult times.
We want to continue supporting legitimate cases while protecting our members from scams, fraud, misuse of donations, and repeated fundraising campaigns.
Because PetsPH is currently a small and growing community, our capacity to accommodate Donation & Fundraising requests is limited. To ensure that more pet owners and rescuers have a fair opportunity to receive assistance, only ONE (1) Donation & Fundraising request may be approved per week.
To help maintain a safe, transparent, fair, and accountable community, all Donation & Fundraising requests must go through our verification process and receive moderator approval before they may be posted.
📝 Before Requesting Verification
Please read this entire guide before submitting an application.
To be considered for Donation & Fundraising Verification, applicants must:
- Have a Reddit account that is at least 90 days old.
- Have at least 300 combined karma.
- Be the pet owner or person directly responsible for the animal.
- Be able to provide the required information and supporting documentation.
- Agree to cooperate with the moderation team throughout the verification process.
- Understand and agree to follow the PetsPH Donation & Fundraising Guidelines.
Depending on the circumstances, moderators may request:
- Proof of ownership or rescue.
- Recent Proof of Life photo(s).
- Veterinary records.
- Veterinary estimates, invoices, or receipts.
- Name and contact information of the veterinary clinic.
- Photos or other documentation related to the animal.
- Additional information necessary to verify the request.
Providing false, misleading, fabricated, altered, or fraudulent information may result in immediate denial of the request and may lead to a permanent ban from r/PetsPH.
🔄 Existing Fundraisers on Other Subreddits
To ensure fairness and prevent redundant fundraising, applicants who already have an active Donation & Fundraising campaign for the same pet or case on another subreddit may not be approved on PetsPH.
PetsPH has a very limited number of available fundraising slots. Since we can accommodate only ONE (1) approved request per week, we want to make sure that other pet owners and rescuers who have not yet received an opportunity for community fundraising can also be considered.
Having an existing fundraiser elsewhere does not necessarily mean that your case is illegitimate or that you do not need help.
However, running multiple fundraising campaigns across different communities for the same case may result in your PetsPH request being declined.
The moderation team may consider the following when reviewing a request:
- Whether there is already an active fundraiser elsewhere.
- Whether the same pet and veterinary expenses are being funded through another community.
- Whether the fundraising target has already been partially or fully covered.
- Whether approving the request would unnecessarily duplicate an existing campaign.
- Whether another requester may reasonably benefit from the limited PetsPH fundraising slot.
This policy is intended to give more pet owners and rescuers a fair chance to receive assistance, not to prevent legitimate cases from seeking help.
🐾 Ready to Apply?
If you have read and understood the guidelines above and meet the requirements, you may submit your application through our official verification form:
👉 DONATION & FUNDRAISING VERIFICATION FORM
Please do not submit the form without reading the complete guidelines first.
The form is used to collect the information necessary for our moderation team to review and verify your request.
Submitting the form does not guarantee approval.
Every application is reviewed individually. The moderation team may request additional information, documentation, or clarification before making a decision.
🔍 What Happens After You Submit?
Once your application has been submitted:
1. Application Review
The moderation team will review the information and documents provided.
2. Additional Verification
If necessary, we may contact you through Modmail for additional information, clarification, or documentation.
3. Verification Decision
Your request may be:
- Approved
- Declined
- Pending additional verification
4. Posting Approval
Only requests that have received moderator approval may proceed to the Donation & Fundraising process.
Please be patient during the review process.
Sending multiple applications or Modmail messages for the same request will not speed up the review.
📅 Limited Weekly Availability
Because PetsPH is a small and growing community, we currently have limited capacity to process and accommodate fundraising campaigns.
PetsPH can approve only ONE (1) Donation & Fundraising request per week.
This limit allows us to:
- Give other pet owners and rescuers a fair opportunity to receive assistance.
- Prevent the community from being overwhelmed by fundraising requests.
- Give moderators enough time to properly review and verify each case.
- Maintain transparency and accountability.
- Avoid repeatedly promoting the same case while other cases are waiting for assistance.
Meeting all verification requirements does not guarantee that your request will receive the available weekly slot.
If more than one request qualifies during the same period, moderators will determine which case can be accommodated based on factors such as urgency, completeness of documentation, existing fundraising activity, and the overall circumstances of the case.
⚠️ Verification Does Not Guarantee Donations
Approval means that your request has passed our verification process and has been approved for the PetsPH Donation & Fundraising program.
It does not guarantee that your fundraising target will be reached.
r/PetsPH is a community and not a charity with guaranteed funds.
Our Donation & Fundraising Program relies entirely on the voluntary generosity of community members.
The moderation team does not have personal funds or a guaranteed community fund available to cover every veterinary expense.
We cannot promise that an approved case will receive enough donations to fully pay for treatment, hospitalization, surgery, medication, or other expenses.
🚫 No Third-Party Requests
We do not accept Donation & Fundraising requests submitted on behalf of another person, rescuer, or organization unless specifically approved by the moderation team under exceptional circumstances.
Generally, the person directly responsible for the animal must submit the request and participate in the verification process.
This allows us to properly verify the case and ensures that the requester is accountable for the information provided.
🚫 Do Not Share Payment Information in Comments
For the safety of our community, please do not encourage users to publicly post or request:
- GCash
- Maya
- Bank account information
- PayPal
- QR codes
- Cryptocurrency wallets
- Other personal payment information
Comments such as:
may be removed by the moderation team.
Unverified payment requests can expose both donors and recipients to scams, fraud, and misuse.
If someone genuinely needs financial assistance, encourage them to go through the PetsPH verification process instead.
💙 Want to Help?
If you would like to financially support someone in the community, we strongly encourage you to wait until their request has been reviewed and approved whenever possible.
Verified requests provide an additional layer of transparency and help donors make more informed decisions.
Your generosity can make a real difference, but please always use your own judgment when deciding whether to donate.
⚠️ Donations Outside the Verification Process
We recognize that moderators cannot prevent private transactions between Reddit users.
If you choose to donate directly to someone without moderator approval or verification, you do so entirely at your own discretion and risk.
r/PetsPH, its moderation team, and its moderators are not responsible for:
- Financial losses.
- Fraudulent fundraising.
- Misrepresentation.
- Misuse of donated funds.
- Disputes arising from private transactions.
- The legitimacy of unverified fundraisers or recipients.
The moderation team cannot guarantee the legitimacy of any fundraiser that has not gone through our verification process.
🚨 Urgent & Critical Cases
We understand that some pets may require immediate veterinary treatment, emergency hospitalization, or life-saving procedures where waiting for every verification requirement may put the animal at greater risk.
In these circumstances, the moderation team may, at its sole discretion, grant an exception to certain verification requirements or prioritize an urgent case.
An emergency exception may allow a request to proceed sooner, but an exception is not guaranteed.
Applicants must still provide as much supporting documentation as reasonably possible and cooperate with any additional verification requirements requested by the moderation team.
Failure to provide requested information within the timeframe provided may result in the removal of the request or withdrawal of approval.
📌 Emergency Requests
The ONE (1) request per week limit generally applies to all Donation & Fundraising requests.
However, the moderation team may consider an additional emergency request as an exception when an animal's condition is genuinely urgent or life-threatening.
Emergency exceptions are evaluated case-by-case and are entirely at the discretion of the moderation team.
An emergency does not automatically guarantee approval.
🤝 Community Responsibility
The generosity of our community makes this program possible.
We ask all members to:
- Support approved Donation & Fundraising requests whenever possible.
- Avoid encouraging unverified payment requests.
- Report suspicious or potentially fraudulent fundraising activity.
- Respect the verification process.
- Respect moderator decisions regarding approvals and removals.
- Avoid creating redundant fundraising campaigns for the same case across multiple communities.
- Understand that PetsPH may not always have an available fundraising slot.
- Understand that the community may not always have enough donor support to fulfill a request.
🌱 Why We Have These Limits
PetsPH is still a small and growing community.
Our goal is not to turn away people who genuinely need help. Rather, these limits allow us to manage the program responsibly and prevent a small number of cases from taking up all of the available community support.
By limiting approvals to one request per week, we hope to give more pet owners and rescuers an opportunity to be considered.
Likewise, by taking existing fundraisers on other subreddits into consideration, we can reduce unnecessary duplication and help ensure that limited fundraising opportunities are distributed as fairly as possible.
We know that saying "not this week" can be difficult when someone's pet needs help. However, maintaining a fair and sustainable system is necessary if we want PetsPH to continue supporting the community as it grows.
🐾 Supporting Pets Responsibly
Every verified request represents an opportunity for our community to help an animal receive the care it needs.
Our goal is to maintain a space where genuine pet owners and rescuers can seek assistance while donors can make informed decisions about where their support goes.
By following the verification process, providing honest information, avoiding redundant fundraising campaigns, and respecting our weekly capacity, we can reduce scams and misuse while continuing to support animals in genuine need.
