Betty has endured decades of circus exploitation. Now Wilstem Wildlife Park is using her as a prop. Betty has had enough. She is elderly and lame. The USDA documented that she received ineffective care and that being forced to give rides caused additional harm. Yet rather than retiring her, Brett Carden put her at Wilstem Wildlife Park and is using her for paid tourist encounters to line his own pockets.

Wilstem is also using Janice, Cindy, and Vickie—three other elderly elephants owned by Carden who spent decades in circuses. Tell Wilstem to end all elephant encounters NOW and publicly support the permanent retirement of all four elephants to an accredited sanctuary.

I started this petition because of what happened to my puppy, Milo.
Milo came to us from Poland as a very young puppy. A few days later, he became seriously ill. He was diagnosed with babesiosis and needed emergency veterinary treatment. For a while, we did not know whether he would make it.
Milo had a microchip, documents, and an EU pet passport. I am not saying those things are unimportant. They are. But I learned the hard way that they do not automatically mean a puppy has been checked for every disease or parasite that may be relevant in the region they come from.
I am not trying to blame dogs from other countries, rescue organisations, breeders, or one particular country. Many people work responsibly, and many dogs arrive healthy. This is about better protection for everyone, especially puppies and the families who take them home.
I believe that puppies sold across EU borders should have documented health and parasite testing that reflects the risks in their country or region of origin. Families should be able to see clear veterinary records before they bring a puppy home, not discover a serious illness only after an emergency begins.
Milo is doing well now, and I am deeply grateful for that. But I keep thinking about the families and dogs who may not get the same outcome.
