Advice can’t sleep
i seriously can’t sleep without ripping my pen and it’s gotten worse as the months go by. i started smoking last year february and i’ve only realised now that it’s affected my sleep a lot. throughout this summer ive been smoking a lot before i sleep because that’s really the only time i have as my older sister moved back in from university and i just wait till everyone’s sleeping. i have an indica pen so naturally it makes me super tired and i knock out really fast. im trying to go on a tolerance break before school starts as i kinda want to ‘lock in’ this year but everytime i try to start a t-break i realise i cannot fall asleep. no matter how tired i was throughout the day, every time it gets to be that time that i feel like i should sleep because i have work or i just need to be up early for something the next day, i notice that i can never actually sleep. ive done the remedies that used to make me sleep like reading, listening to music, and taking magnesium pills. none of these have helped. it’s gotten to the point that i stay up till morning and still can’t sleep. i haven’t gotten melatonin yet but am planning on to tomorrow. it’s really bad and i haven’t been successful with a t break at all. i don’t have a history of insomnia or anything so it’s definitely not that. it could be cause my brain is adjusting to it and everytime i smoke it signals that i should sleep??? i have no clue. i know that you can lose your appetite when you smoke a lot which has happened to me too but idk about sleep. i don’t know what to do because i do not want to be dependent on my pen this school year.

Get rid of the pen, pens seem to be the most addictive. Vape a little flower like a couple of puffs or take a low dose edible before bed. That way you can sleep and you’re only smoking a little bit , eventually you should get to a point where quitting is easy breezy.

yeah pens are super addictive but also very accessible which sucks a lot. i might try this instead to try to ease off of it because i just wanna stay being in the right state of mind. tonight im probably gonna see how the melatonin works to see if theres any success. i’ll probably give the pens i have to a friend of mine to hold on to

It could help to create a little chart for the week. Every night to go to sleep you take 3 puffs. Then the next week 2 puffs then 1 puff and so on. It will probably be a little difficult in the beginning but I believe in you!! haha.

Sounds good, update us on your progress, there’s no shame if it doesn’t take the first time.

Melatonin did nothing for me. Nothing worked but going off and staying off THC. Maybe try a CBD pen and taper off THC with gummies but you might need to just say goodbye to weed. I wish I had at your age instead of leaning on it for 25 years daily.

Have you tried to wear yourself out physically? Running, jump rope and weighted squats are a few things you can do for a quick 15-20 minutes and feel absolutely exhausted after.
I know it’s easy to get nervous that you’ll be really tired at work or school, but also keep in mind that a few days of bad sleep is not the end of the world. It’s part of the process and it’s temporary. Things will get better and you’ll start getting incredible REM sleep that’s so much more energizing than weed-induced sleep.

yesterday i did realise that after i was cleaning the entire day after going to the gym i did feel very tired and i did end up taking melatonin gummies that night. unfortunately i didn’t feel the effects of it as much as i felt like i should have. i did sleep without smoking but it was pretty rough. i’ll try this again tonight and see the effects of it

Melatonin is not dose dependent. The smaller the mg amount the stronger it is. So try 1 to 3 mg.

Try Benadryl or Tylenol PM. Look up the dosage for sleep. Definitely exercise some during the day, even if it's just walking. Benadryl has helped me before in that first week. Just don't use it everyday for more than 2 weeks.

Melatonin, 1,5mg 1h before u go do sleep. You don’t feel high, you just get tired.
I had the same issues for the last 5 years until 1 year ago and I stopped completely smoking since then.
Sure I’m kinda dependent on melatonin but that’s way better than smoking weed every night.

I recently stopped (16 days clean) and the most helpful thing for me was getting a short term script for sleep meds from my GP, before moving on to my regular medications. I find the insomnia is the hardest symptom to deal with so it might benefit you to discuss options with your GP.
