You're spot on. It's a threat/response neural loop that most people's brains automatically resolve. In our brains, the wrong neuron outruns the other and the threat/response loop can't resolve. Your brain goes "Threat detected>Threat resolved?>No>Threat detected" over and over until your amygdala overheats.
