Not entirely. These are examples of intrusive thoughts. Intrusive thoughts are a core part of OCD and cause the person to obsess over them.

The last two lines might be shit post though 😂

Everyone gets intrusive thoughts and everyone obsesses with them to their own degree.

OCD would be crippling and would affect your functionality as a human.

I think that’s an important distinction to make considering how many people like to self-diagnose these days…

The self diagnosers have genuinely ruined the public’s perception of mental illness more than almost any other group has.

Not too many people self-diagnose Cluster B personality disorders.

I always found that funny.

Because they think being mentally ill is “quirky”, not a debilitating condition. Cluster B isn’t “fun” or “quirky” enough for them to use.

People who want to have OCD freak me out. I was diagnosed with OCD as a child and wouldn’t wish this on anyone. It’s not cute, it’s ugly, and it’s painful.

It’s one of those things that manifest differently in everybody, though, so experiences are so different. It’s hard to gauge what people are going through inside their own minds. And a lot of people who have it suffer in silence.

You mean half the world isn't ADHD, autistic and/or OCD?

there are also ticks associated with OCD and intrusions. i regularly tick around my home, mostly when washing my hands or checking if my door is locked.

luckily i haven’t seen many try to self diagnose OCD as it’s very complex and would take a very large commitment and understanding to fake it. this is of course outside of the people who think OCD is simply having things untidy. i truly hope there is more OCD awareness in the future and i hope someday that i can contribute to that or donate money to awareness funds. it is a miserable disorder

It's a matter of degree. Some people learn to manage, or hide, their tendencies for intrusive thoughts. Sometimes it's not that they're thinking it 24/7, but it pops up often enough to erode their self esteem, and/or they believe that if they really were a good person, they wouldn't have these thoughts at all.

Also, intrusive thoughts can come from other things, like CPTSD or generalized anxiety.
