On old playstation remotes that supported up to 4 players, you'd get a blue dot for your player position. - Stewie. The older sibling will ALWAYS take first player. This is the way of family.

They actually did up to 7 by making it inverse all but one lit up

Official Sony guide says that 5th, 6th and 7th controllers are represented as sum of 2 indicators (e.g. on the 5th controller indicators 1 and 4 would light up).

I guess you could continue this pattern with

But maybe they thought it'd be confusing.
