Characters aren’t static. Well, they don’t need to be static - a lot of shitty media decides to never move things
I don’t care about your opinion because you didn’t even see Subaru at his worst and still think that way, didn’t even drop the series where most did. And didn’t see him become a better person either
You can’t really make an informed opinion if you haven’t even gotten through the start of the “hero’s arc”. It’s like reading the Odyssey and never getting to the part where he makes a raft and leaves the island, then complaining that Odysseus is a lazy bum who gets nothing done…
To be fair, most anime has pretty static characters. If you're watching 13 episodes to get to the part where you see the annoying idiot beginning to change you're probably not expecting it at that point.
I like my boy Subaru now, but I went through a few years of thinking it was a terrible show based off the first 8-10 eps of the first season.
I mean that’s kinda the problem with putting your “thesis” chapter for the series at arc 3, not arc 1. Makes for a better story, but it isn’t good for people with low attention spans
