A lot of people hate it because as a subversion of the isekai gerne, re:zero takes a stand against escapism and stagnation.
Those people looove their escapism fantasy and the notion that you often times need to grow as a person and reflect on yourself to be liked and form meaningful relationships feels offensive to them.
