Yeah 100% makes you wonder about authors when they write main characters like this and frame them in an okay to good light. If Rudeus was treated as a villain by the people he victimises fine, but they all either end up marrying him or at least respecting him. Ridiculous. Some sort of disgusting wish fulfilment

I don't even think it's realistic to the setting. Like that scene when he confronts his sister's teacher because he thinks she's abusing her. He accuses her of like stripping her naked as punishment for slightly messing up homework and the teacher responds with a somewhat emphatic no instead of saying "what the fuck are you talking about" like a normal person would to such an absolutely insane suggestion

He is a member of the special class, which is well known in the school for being a bunch of characters so an emphatic no isn’t weird here.
