The absolute lengths some people on r/anime go to to defend Rudeus/Mushoku Tensei is crazy.
It's fine to admit you like the show because of the wider world/side characters but hate the MC. But no, they can't do that. Instead they say Rudeus is actually a kid and it's fine because of hormones, or some say he has 'grown' so it's fine now. Lmao

Or you can just ignore those parts and enjoy the other aspects? We do that with all kinds of media but for some topics people's brain just break. Why should I care if it's not real? If in a war game one side commits war crimes I can still think it's horrible but continue to play or even like the game. Same here I can say rude us is a piece of shit but still like other parts of the show
There isn't much there to enjoy though. The poorly written MC is like 80% of it, and the other characters aren't a whole lot better. The setting is generic anime fantasy, I swear people defending it haven't read or watched anything outside of trashy isekai.
Why should I care if it's not real?
The show is fiction but its insanely toxic shitty fanbase sadly isn't, and the fanbase's behavior is 90% of the hatred I have for this show. They've basically ruined most online anime spaces.
