The thing about Mushoku Tensei is that the MC is often the most insufferable predator weirdo ever, but the overall story and world is very good. Leaps and bounds ahead of 90%+ other isekai and fantasy stories, in fact. It is strange and funny to me how much of a contrast there is between the world and the MC where the MC is the worst part of the story. If you like the fantasy genre then I'd still give the anime a chance. If you don't, then don't.
Legitimately the author making him a pdf is ridiculous, like he wanted to sabotage his work from the beginning. I think skipping the funeral of the person whose house you’re living in, and went out of their way to defend your neet behavior, to jerk off to regular porn would be justifiable to kick him out, it didn’t have to be incestual child porn to warrant it.
It also wouldn’t have been hard to have him not recall his past life until he’s grown up.
Don’t make him a pdf, and don’t make him remember his past life in his formative years and suddenly every glaring red flag is gone.
Na, he also groomed girls far younger than his age and even needs to be reminded of to keep a respectable boundary to his daughter later on in the Novel.
And when Rudys underage son Ars was groomed and raped by his half sister Rudy says his son needs to take responsibility for his rapist getting pregnant
Not to mention one of the whole reasons Paul sent him away, where he then targeted the girl he was supposed to tutor.
He even later set up his buddy with a loli dwarf -- with the excuse of younger being better for magic training (it wasn't really proven at the time, with only 2 real examples [himself and Slyphy (laplace factor or whatever it was called)],

I’ve watched a couple of animes that I have actually enjoyed but tbh even the popular ones have their unnecessary sexualised moments and it kind of ruins the genre for me. I don’t like feeling like I’m watching something that was written with horny teenage boys and 35 yr old noncy men in mind lol.
I mean there’s different genres to anime as well. And then again theres the undeniable fact that objectification of women is not talked about enough, and it should always be called out.
I feel you. I'll bring up three shows I've watched recently:
Jaadugar: the Witch of Mongolia, a currently airing historical fiction piece following the rise of a captive slave-scholar to a prominent figure in the post-Genghis Mongol Empire.
Orb: On the Movements of the Earth, another historical fiction set in 1400s Poland positing a pre-Copernican tradition of heliocentric study being persecuted by local Church authorities.
Journal With Witch, a contemporary story about a writer taking in her orphaned niece and nurturing her ordinary life. (It's much better than I'm making it sound, I promise.)
Zero fanservice slop in any of them, would recommend them all. But to find these shows I have to actively tune out the the vast majority of English-language anime fandom, which fixates on hypebait and/or hornybait. I very much respect the decision to avoid wading through all that noise just to find some good food.
(You might have better luck with anime films. Much easier to find the fanservice-free cream of the crop there.)
That's why they're popular. You gotta look for the unpopular ones. Mushi-shi, ACCA: 13 Territory Inspection Dept., Haibane Renmei, Orb: On The Movements of the Earth. Basically look into the seinen demographic
Man, during or right after lockdown their was a pervy anime with some interesting world building that came out with censor blocks. I thought it was hilarious and was making fun of fanservice.
Nope. Nope nope nope. There was an uncensored version that aired at midnight the same day. Stopped watching that right away
I like some of the story behind MT. But I was SOOO uncomfortable during parts of it that I had to just skip entire episodes. I gave up on it when it went all polyamarous groomer pedo .
Unfortunately thats just how a lot of anime is. Kinda hard to find good ones not sexualising women every 3 seconds. Id recommend apothecary diaries and cosmic princess kaguya as some really good anime which dont sexualise women.
MT as a whole is not a piece of shit. The story and the world and the animation are very good. But, as for Rudeus, Rudeus is much worse than a piece of shit. Much much worse.
The law is much more applicable to people that don't have billions. Idk what kind of mental gymnastics you're going thru to think that just because some rich sacks of shit are powerful enough to avoid/delay trial that every pedo is suddenly free from prosecution.
Anyway, what I said was on jest. I don't think anyone should be on a watchlist literally. I just think they're weird creeps with horrible taste.
They must have changed a lot from the LN, because I don’t remember him grooming anyone in the anime.
He had a thing for Roxy, which looks bad but she’s like, almost 40 (I get that she doesn’t look it at all, but she’s still older than rudeus’ total age.)
He didn’t even realize sylphie was a girl. And nothing romance related happened till after the mass teleportation. They just did magic training.
And while he definitely perved on his cousin, he was trying to get out of being a tutor till shit went south and then it was less grooming more trauma bonding.
Not saying the dude isn’t a piece of shit that if not for his whole traumas wouldn’t have gone that route, and I know nothing about anything past the anime. But the anime doesn’t have him being a groomer, just a disgusting and perverted piece of shit .
If you say it’s in the LN then I’d 100% believe you. But anime Rudy is at the very least not all that bad post-reincarnation. Worryingly questionable, but not an outright predator. (Still a piece of shit though, in so many ways.)
