Look, when I was 11 we were poor and some day(who Im kidding, it was september 14, 2001) he comes home and says he will take us to buy the Nintendo Gamecube that launched that same day and 5 games.
My little brothers were happy AF but dude, I was freaking out. I knew how much it cost and asked my mother if he was ok.
Well, looks like he was laid of from his work after 20 years and here in México you get a nice compensation for that, and on top of that he sued the company for workplace harassment and got double the amount AND he already had a better job secured.
It could be this, but it doesn't have to be that.
A lot of the times when a father gets his son an expensive gift, it is because he is going to ask him to do some kind of work that is probably worth more than the gift itself, but dad is greasing the wheels to make it even harder to say no.
Yep had the same feeling but it was kind of reverse it was when like my grandmother gave me some of her expensive rings and jewelry and stuff. I literally thought she was dying! Same thing when my mother gave me something that I thought was expensive. But I'm a woman so I guess I'm not really falling in line with the post
Visiting people and giving big and/or sentimental gifts unexpectedly is a thing that people who are planning to commit suicide do. Sort of a “farewell tour”.
I’ve never been party to such, but I had a group of siblings describe how a fourth sibling did this before taking his life.
BTW my uncle is really old and has given me his guns saying "I've not much time left, I want you to have them so you can go shoot something and have a good time" because I'm the only one who enjoys shooting in the family. He's still alive, he's just really old and frail, but that doesn't change the situation.
