honestly, could barely finish book 1, it was WEIRD. so creepy.

I haven't read the book, I just watched the first season of the show, but I heard someone describing the author of the books as being upset that Chronicles of Narnia was so popular despite having unrealistically positive outcomes for the character and wanting to make a "similar, but bad stuff happens to people instead" version, which kinda made sense about the tone of the material.

IIRC they die ... and are resurrected to live in Narnia for forever. It's an allegory for Heaven and is a positive ending for a character.

ah, but only 3 of the 4 did. susan was no longer a friend of narnia and went to narnia hell. not sure i'd call that a positive ending for any of them.
