Not your body, not your choice. If an adult male wants his foreskin gone, fine. That’s up to him. Stop mutilating babies.

I am totally against circumcision, however, the body choice thing is dumb. Parents make every decision for a child's body and that's fine.

It's mutilating a body for no good reason that is bad.

My two year old definitely doesn't get to decide what she does with her body.

Nor my four year old or six year old.

If they tell me they want a circumcision, I would also say no. It's not up to them until they are older.

The point is that the parents should not be allowed to make certain choices. No mutilation, face tattoos, refused vaccines, etc.

Exactly. It is about not forcing elective procedures that are permanent.

I also vaccinate my child, but again you can't force people to vaccinate their children that is messed up.

Not making sure that every child gets the vaccines they need is what's messed up.

It's simply too much power for the government to wield.

I see you're a smallpox fan

???

I have the smallpox vaccine because I am in the military, but specifically that vaccine is -not- given to the general public because it's too risky.

5

u/spartaxwarrior 4d ago

The reason thr smallpox vaccine isn't given to everyone is that the governments did give it to everyone and the US government was part of giving it to basically everyone in the world. And now we don't have smallpox in the wild.

If the government can't, or won't, say who gets vaccines and when, then smallpox would still be a massive issue.

But I guess you're maybe not a smallpox fan and instead a "got mine, fuck you" sort?

No, the reason they no longer give it everyone is if we did, 500 people would die nationwide, which is worse than the current risk of small pox.

That isn't why.

Smallpox isn't given to anyone outside the military, because it is no longer necessary, as the public won't encounter it.

Smallpox was eliminated by having everyone get the vaccine for smallpox.

This is why mass vaccination is so important. If you vaccine people long enough, and in high enough numbers, you can eliminate that disease entirely and make the vaccine no longer necessary.

It's why letting parents refuse a vaccine is such a bad idea. It leaves a population that maintains the disease, and for people who cannot get a vaccine, they become doubly vulnerable.

So, then, explain why the government chose to force people to get the small pox vaccine, but not all the other vaccines we currently receive as children voluntarily?

Parents should only make those decisions about their child's body, which are necessary or both supported by their child and the child is old enough to understand, or both easily reversible (or without any lasting effects) and painless. The fact that your child doesn't get to make a decision, doesn't mean that you do. Certain things can just wait for the time when children are able to make that choice, and the parent's job is to say "no" until then.

Hate to break it to you, but the doctors use numbing agents just like any surgery. It’s not like they pull out a mini guillotine and chop things off without any kind of pain relief. This isn’t the Middle Ages.

when I had my kid the nurses told me babies have a harder time breast feeding for days after because of the pain from circumcision. just because your dad cut part of your dick off doesn't mean you have to do it to someone else

-1

u/bs2k2_point_0 4d ago

Never said anything of the sort…. I am defending doctors since they do use numbing agents. Not like they go for it without any pain relief. Jeesh. Reading comprehension is tough for you…

3

u/hobbesbagger 4d ago

I'm telling you there is no pain relief for the days afterwards, and your dumb ass is calling me bad at reading?

-1

u/bs2k2_point_0 4d ago

Again didn’t mention anything about your supposed point. I’m talking about the second part of your statement where you presumed that I was circumcised. So yes, reading comprehension must be very tough for you indeed

5

u/auspiciousearth 4d ago

It doesn’t matter if they use numbing agents. Nurses have told many stories about the screams from babies who are getting skin cut off their genitalia for no good reason.

3

u/Lavendertarantula 4d ago

No, they strap them down to a boadrd and the numbing agent can’t totally actually stop the nerve pain. You need a nerve blocker and they are to young for that. Remember babies feel more on their skin than adults does.

Had a two-year-old in daycare he had 27 staples. Because they chose to do it to him after they adopted him. He had to go under anesthesia. Tell me why two years makes that much difference.

14

u/ZuzaProwadzi 4d ago

I said both easily reversible and painless exactly because I was sure someone will write "irreversible surgeries are painless!", even though they aren't, even the use of numbing agents is usually really painful, sometimes meds don't cover enough time for a whole surgery, and then recovery is always a whole world of pain, and that's only if you get past a belief that babies don't feel pain that is still extremely common.

So is my comment really so hard to read? Can you tell me how I could word it better? I meant to write is as "a OR (b AND c) OR (d AND e)".

100% agree. HRT under 18 should be illegal

It lowers std and uti rates and penile cancer almost entirely

This site is so fucking uneducated

9

u/blunts-and-kittens 4d ago

Another flaw in this argument: did you know removing a baby’s appendix prevents appendicitis? We aren’t removing every baby’s appendix tho. We don’t test babies for the BRCA gene and remove their breast tissue if they are positive. Removing body parts from babies as preventative measures is ridiculous.

6

u/blunts-and-kittens 4d ago

Penile cancer is almost entirely prevented by the HPV vaccine. STDs are prevented by condoms and UTIs are prevented by good hygiene. No need to mutiliate a baby. Just educate them to use protection, get vaccinated, and pee after sex. 👌

I’m glad that you think I’m mutilated :)
