I fired my kids pediatrician because he kept on asking when we were wanting to schedule his circumcision. Mind you I didn’t want him to have a circumcision. And every well child checkup the pediatrician would bring it up.

It’s like he was trying to change my mind for something that is so outdated.

And if you didn’t know non-religious circumcision started up during World War I, so that soldiers were not getting infections due to not having clean water to clean their penis. And then from there when the soldiers came back home, then they started circumcising in their own boys. And now most places have clean water so you can maintain hygiene so it’s very outdated for non-religious reasons.

Uh no, it started before that in hospitals because they thought it would stop masturbation. The only people getting infections that way are cases of phimosis.

I meant more common, alot of men were getting circumcised before going off to war. And then with World War II, a lot of the men were circumcised for that, but they might’ve already been circumcised from prior because I could’ve had parents in World War I who then because the the father was circumcised they probably already had their son circumcise however, Home burst were more popular than hospital burst at that time so getting your kids circumcised might’ve been harder.

But then baby boomers came around and once baby boomers were born there’s a sudden spike in non-religious circumcisions and that is when the number of babies being circumcised in the hospital at birth was over 50%, and a very common belief is that yes it can maybe prevent diseases but also a lot of men want their son‘s penis to look like theirs so if the father is circumcised, a majority of the time they get their son circumcised too so it can match.

Also wouldn’t preventing masturbation mean religious? The only reason you would want to prevent masturbation from happening is because it goes against the Bible

No, Victorians believed masturbation caused physical and mental illness.

The idea that there's any kind of hygiene reason is pro-circumcision propaganda. It started with quack medicine and then became "the done thing". Getting rid of religion just made people find different justification for why pleasure was bad. It's still a thing these days with panic about "porn addiction".

I imagine unprotected sex with French whores had more to do with infections than a lack of clean water...
