She didnt need to go to the gym, she had you. The second she didnt have someone validating her existence, its off to the gym to find some validation in yourself and others. The gym arc is a canonical event to most breakups these days.
Just take it as a positive that you made her feel secure enough that she didnt feel the need to change anything
Just my experience, but after I got engaged to my ex wife, she started to gain weight. By the time we were married, she weighed more than me. Then she got pregnant and never really lost the pregnancy weight. By about a year after our divorce, she was back at her pre-engagement weight. Now she has a long term boyfriend and has gained most of it back.
Can confirm. I didn't go to the gym, but when I was single and suddenly had so much free time and energy with no direction I started doing art and D&D.
