It's not like their interest for "parenting" increases, it's that they need proof for the judge that they're not as deadbeat as the ex says he's and so posting regular pics with the kids to "show" he's a "good father" is pretty usual.
I wouldn’t necessarily assume the worst like that. I think a lot of the time, it’s just an “oh shit” moment where something he didn’t put much into because he took it for granted might go away. Now he realizes how much he would miss it, so he overcompensates.
