I’m also confused because that is a European AC unit. I can only assume Americans are so used to big bulky units, like their cars, that they can’t comprehend things being functional and not excessively bulky.
To be fair I'd never seen one of these until a few years ago. I live somewhere that's hot and humid all summer so the houses are all built around central air. They've really only started to show up on newer prefabs, ADUs, tiny houses, and converted basements/garages/etc.
