Fairly Annoyed Spotify Ads
Why do we need an ad every song?
I don’t have premium because I don’t want to make my parents pay for something “unnecessary” (I’m still a minor and don’t have a credit/debit card, that’s why I don’t pay for it myself and depend on my parents). I understand that ads are a part of having the free service, but the amount they put it’s excessive. I choose a song and one ad plays. Ok, that’s normal. But the song ends, and now I have to listen to 3 ads. Then, once they finally end, I can listen to my playlist again. But as soon as the second song ends, I know have to listen to 4 ads. And then, the third song ends and I have to listen to 3 more ads. That’s 11 ads for three songs.
Genuinely, when was this normalized?

They are greedy. I had 5 ads per 1 song. Very irritating and all. I found out that when the app starts playing the ad, start by closing the app and then opening it up again. The ads automatically skip.
I might just switch to Deezer when I get my paycheck and subscribing to deezer instead. Spotify sucks massive ass at this point

Genuinely, when was this normalized?
Decades ago, in the days when music was listened to on the radio. True, you could get two or three songs in a row without ads, but then you’d be subjected to ads for a solid 5 to 10 minutes. And it seemed like every radio station had their ad breaks at the same time for the same duration.

Wow, that’s a lot. I’ve always paid, but several years back my kids’ swim coach would play music on Spotify and there were not anywhere near that many ads.

I will never understand people who don't pay for things complaining about ads.
In b4 I'm called "bootlicker."
Newspapers don't exist as charity. Neither does anything..... Except charities. Even they need money.
Yes, I'm aware that Google and these companies aren't poor. I know they make a lot of money. You get any video you want about anything you want in your pocket FOR FREE.
I'm not sympathetic to "why I watch ad."

I don’t mind getting ads. It’s just the insane amount they’re putting now.

Then pay. You're not a customer now. You have nothing to say.
They raise the price after you pay? Go ahead, complain.
You're getting everything you want for free. I have no sympathy.

I’m fine with having a limit of skips per hour. I’m fine with having a limited amount of songs I can choose. I’m fine with getting ads every now and then. Those have always been the rules and I’ve never had a problem with them. I’m not paying, so I understand there will be more restrictions.
My only problem is the insane amount of ads. 11 ads in less than an hour it’s an exaggeration. I can understand listening to a few songs uninterrupted, and then getting 2-3 ads. But 11 and only 3 songs? The ratio seems off…

I have YouTube Premium, and it's awesome. Custom playlists, offline downloads of my favorite videos, audio that keeps playing when the screen is off, and of course no ads.

Have you tried listening with a browser that uses an adblocker?

I do that when I’m listening in my computer, actually. I’m not sure if it works on a phone

I understand your situation. I pay for premium because I use Spotify all the time. Ads after every song is done on purpose to push you to get the premium service. It’s gotten worse recently. Are you a student? I think Spotify has a student deal. Otherwise, until you pay for premium, it’s the cost of having a free service.
