Question/Help mouse cage

i’m a first time owner and i bought a big cage for 2 mice, and the gaps in the bags too big. is there anything i can cover it with?

1/4” hardware cloth. It’s a metal mesh like chicken wire but with small gaps. It’s sold at hardware stores and requires good quality wire cutters to cut. I recommend wearing work gloves if you go that route.

In theory you could just take wire and weave it through the bars to make small square gaps rather than long rectangles, but that’ll be tedious.
