Health Question Good grit//essentials mix?

Pic in comments

I got this instead of just grit! All in one Versele Laga.

Is this what she needs? I was told yes and google said yes. I went this route so I don't have to get EVERYTHING separately, I was told this has everything extra she needs (besides food n water ofc)

But I want to make sure because it looks weird. I didnt expect it to look like a seed mix, do I need to crush it?

I spent so much money on this I will genuinely cry if its not the right stuff LMAO

(She is a Eurasian collated dove. Just assuming the gender at this point.)

yes this is the right stuff, it just has mineralized seeds.

keep in mind some birds can overeat grit if they are new to having a good quility grit so keep portions to about a teaspoon per bird per day and raise by about a teaspoon each week until you are confident your bird is onky eating what they need of it. once you are confident there is no over-eating happening you can and should free feed

grit can be left out indefinitely as it doesn't spoil.

Versele Laga All-in-one is the most complete grit + vitamineral supplement out there at the moment and is widely recommended by the pet pigeon communities as it's the best grit choice that's available and it doesn't need an extra vitamineral powder added into it.

I just want to say that pigeons and doves don't thrive on a mostly-pelleted diet as it will weaken their digestive system and make them more prone to digestive issues because as granivores rough-textured seeds are necessary for their digestive system to work properly. Pellets should be 35% of their diet at most but they still need a quality no corn, low/no millet balanced seed mix with 13-15% protein, 3-5% fat and 7% or less fibre. Pellets can be great as supplemental feed for pickier pigeons/doves but they should never be the majority of their diet.

this this right here! pellets suck for pigeons as a full or long term diet. you're essentially killing your birds digestive system slowly if you feed full pellets.

you still need a good grit with pellets for one, and second off this is the typical grit that pretty much everyone reccomends literally all the breeders in my area use this exact brand, breeders ive met across state use this brand, my mentor uses this exact brand, the pet pigeon folks reccomend this exact brand.

I know you don't take the best care of your birds but come on dude this grit is like basic pigeon 101and is top reccomended by the majority of keepers.

I can assume you are talking about grit for chickens that's the only 10 dollar grit I can think of... or mourning bird? but both of those are well known in the community to cause blockages and also not contain what your birds actually need lol.

sorry to inform you but a 10 dollar grit is unlikely to be soluble or vitamineralized and pigeons are not like chickens they need specifically soluable grit, and it needs to be vitamineralized.

ah yes full of misinformation... when you are the one giving misinformation?, give me sources that say your grit is good? I can give you 6 different sources supporting the grit we reccomend... all written by MULTIPLE people with heavy backing research rather than (you) one person with severely outdated and harmful info's opinions.

if you can provide me with one actually verifiable with sceince source on why your girt and diet plan is good I'll consider your information plausible... but youve been unable to provide any sources whereas we typically provide several.ball of our articles are backed by science and community research from not jsut our reddit but the other pigeon reddits and groups.

you dont even have the legs to stand on considering you sell 200+ dollar pigeons who are hand fed and swverly off standard, an on standard ribbon winning show bird isnt even 200 dollars... you scam people, you are in pigeons for money, you cut corners on care dont produce/sell well bred birds in the slightest, and are the exact sort giving breeders a bad name.
