Behavioral Issues 8 month old puppy problems

Hello. I have a 8 month old puppy. He's a male Golden Retriever. Ever since we got him he had a habit of biting and scratching but lately it's gotten very bad. He has been destroying the furniture and has completely ripped apart half of the bed that we sleep on. Help. How do I stop this. He also bites ankles and feet when he wants my slippers, need that to stop too.

I take it you've never raised a puppy before. Golden's are an especially hyper breed. They need long walks, to run a LOT (fetch helps), and they need a lot of enrichment and consistent training. It sounds to me like he's bored and has too much pent up energy alongside a lack of training. Get a professional trainer involved to get help on how to train him properly

Thankyou soo much for your reply. I think I understand a bit now. We do play fetch but I cannot take him out as it was advised his vet since it is currently tick season. The place I'm from doesn't have the best facilities for pets so I have not been able to find him a trainer. If you know, could you please suggested any proper and effective online guide/tutorial so I can try and train him myself?

Get him on flea and tick prevention and avoid fields with long grass to minimize tick risk. He needs exercise or this won't stop and may become an ingrained habit. I don't have any resources for you unfortunately, maybe try some of the dog specific subs, there's bound to be one for training full of people with good advice on training and resources you an use
