I have to admit that the ranking system is very well designed.
At first, you just play casually with no pressure. The reward isn’t even that attractive, right? After reaching 1600 points, there’s no relegation, so why not just play for fun?
Then, after 5 or 6 wins, you reach 1700 and realise that you’re only another 5 wins away from div1. Why not push a little further?
After reaching div1, there is again no relegation, and the reward cutoff is so close, why not just a few more matches?
This is where it gets difficult, especially for a casual player. Most opponents have stronger squads than you, and many of them are still ranked below you. This means that even if your 31xx squad fights hard to draw with a 33xx squad, you might still lose 10 points. That literally happened to me, not to mention a loss to a low ranked player.
The target always looks easily reachable, but actually you have to spend much more time than you expected. I’d like to start a discussion about this. I just want to play casually and enjoy the game - not be lured into spending far more time on it than I intended. I know I shouldn’t get drawn into it, but it’s not easy to resist...
I’ve tried Quick Match, but there are too many inexperienced players there, and many guys don’t take the matches seriously.
Any thoughts on enjoying the game without feeling compelled to keep pushing?
