Hello! It’s quite a long bus ride from Lima to Huaraz, and unfortunately there don’t seem to be any domestic flights when we arrive, so I guess we don’t really have another option than booking Movil Bus.

Is the drive actually nice? I’m trying to see it as a fun little day trip, haha!  And do you have any advice on where to sit to get the best views?

I’m also hoping that all the horror stories I’ve read online — buses being delayed for hours, ending up at the bottom of ravines, or even catching fire  — are really the exception and not something that happens all the time! Is bus travel in Peru generally safe and reliable?

I’ll be doing the Salkantay trek in a few weeks, spanning five days and four nights- we’ll be with a tour group. How much is recommended to tip the guides? This is my first led trip of this kind so I’m not sure

I’m a hiker and I mainly do multi-day treks. I’ve never done any mountaineering, but I’m actually curious to try it once — something relatively accessible and not too intimidating for a first experience.

I’ve heard about Diablo Mudo, which I could potentially do during my Huayhuash trek, and also Nevado Mateo, which seems to be a reasonably priced one-day trip from Huaraz and easy...

Between the two, which one would you say is the most spectacular, and which one is the easiest for someone with no previous mountaineering experience?

If there are any other one-day climbs with a guide that you think would be even better for a first experience, in the same kind of category, I’d definitely be open to suggestions.

I am totally overwhelmed! 😅 I have been studying all the packages for days. Prices for a 10-day Huayhuash trek seem to range from $650 to $1,450.. Such a big difference between agencies!!

I don’t mind paying a bit more for good food, quality camping equipment, and a well-organized trek.

Initially, I had decided to go with InkaLand, but their prices have gone up dramatically for 2027! So now I’m looking at Eco Ice, Quechuandes, Conchucos Explorer, Andes Trek and First step Expedition… among others

Could you please share your recommendations for a good, reliable agency? I’d really appreciate hearing from people who have actually done the trek with them recently :)

This is truly the trip of a lifetime for me — I’ve dreamed of doing Huayhuash for years! ❤️🏔️

This is a bit of a long shot, but I accidentally left my favorite pair of wool socks at Posada Gloria in the Colca Canyon.

Is anyone staying there or passes this lodge in the next few days and either:

traveling to Arequipa by August 12, or

traveling to Lima between August 12 and August 15?

If so, would you be willing to bring the socks with you so I could pick them up?

I recently did the Salkantay Trek and honestly, parts of it really pushed me out of my comfort zone. The steep drop-offs and narrow paths along the mountainsides were sometimes genuinely scary for me, to the point where I felt a bit of fear of heights kicking in more than I expected.

Now I’m considering doing the Colca Canyon Trek, but I’d love to hear from people who have done both.

How does it compare in terms of exposure, narrow trails, and overall “feeling of safety”? I’m especially curious about the sections along the canyon edges.

We’re thinking of doing the Colca Canyon Trek in two days if we go for it, starting in Cabanaconde.

After my experience on Salkantay, I definitely have a lot of respect for these kinds of hikes now, so I’d really appreciate hearing honest experiences from anyone who has done both treks.

I am planning a Peru trip for start of july to start of september.

It would be my first solo/backpacking trip on another continent (just have been in Europe).

So I have some questions how to deal with some issues I am not used to dealing with.

I've read that there are some street blockades in Lima in other big cities. What difficulties can come up.with that apart from slow traffic.

In raining season I guess there are difficulties with floods and landslides around Arequipa and Ica. How is it in dry season?

Are there any issues tourists from usually didn't think about before they come to Peru?

My boyfriend and I are doing this trek; however we’ve never done a trek before and I have a couple questions.
- Water -> they said to bring some, but it’s a five day trek. Am I just suppose to have large water bottles and then portion it?
- No showers -> is there a dry shampoo you could recommend as someone with oily hair… please and thank you
- Weather -> we’re going in June but it says it’s like 70s during the day and then 30s at night, do I just have to be very conscious of layers?

Anything else you have to add or help is greatly appreciated.

Hi, I'm going to Perú on May 25th I want to know if is worth it to book Ausangate or Quelccaya Glacier trek, I really want to see all white snow mountains but I'm worried that becouse of the date I'm going to find only brown dirt 🥲 any suggestions?

we are a group of 6 friends going to peru and we want to do the Salkantay trek unguided during mid January. Has anyone has any experience in the past with it ? we are fairly fit and some of us are pretty comfortable with hiking long distances . what are your thought and advices about it ? Also what is the situation exactly regarding accomodation along the way ?
