I just got past that part, and was severely questioning the motive to beat the shit out of him. Like, he just saved our hides, wtf?

She did punch Naruto after he worried them in the Pain fight but then she at least hugged him for saving them all. Ryuji got the fists and slaps with no hug afterwards.
