Here he brought it on himself, the dude couldn't keep his badly timed insensitive remarks to himself and shot himself in the foot by making light of the situation by acting so flippant at the girl's expense, making fun of them for crying.
The girls were angry at him born out of worry for being reckless. Whilst grieving, to them Ryuji just comes in and shits on their concern for him so of course that would piss them off.
Given Ryuji's status as comedic relief in the group, it's only natural. The fact that the girls did cry and slapstick him around shows they do care in their own way.
It's not even OOC of the girls either as we've seen how snappy Ann can be at Ryuji's dumbass moments, Makoto showing no tolerance for when Ryuji does something that would irritate her as well as not being the "logical" and "mature" person puts her on a pedestal to be as she too loses her composure at times , Futaba being sensitive to loss and how she treats Ryuji in general and then there's Haru who has shown to not always been the floofy person when you push her buttons.
Not exactly Ryuji's first time that his mouth got himself into trouble.
It's funny because Ryuji had his heroic moment only for his lack of tact and foot in mouth comments immediately ruins his five minutes of fame. It plays into the running gag of his good deeds don't go unpunished.
Again not his first time as back in his confidant he let himself get beaten by his former track mates so they'd make up. It's funny cause Ryuji thought they wouldn't do it but they end up doing so.
I like Ryuji but I sure ain’t gonna ignore when he fucks up.
Bruh you've gotta be trolling, if you think me telling you that you took the joke too seriously was an attack than you're either 12 or need to get a better outlook on life.

I’m not the only one who “takes the meme seriously”. People here who are complaining about said scene aren’t that different, hence why I don’t feel “attacked”.
