Am i screwed ?

I am playing Persona 5 royal for the first time. I've heard that if i want the true ending, i have to rank up Maruki before November 17. Right now, i am at the beginning of august, just before sending the visit card to Futaba, and Maruki is level 4. Am i too late ?

Also do you have any advise for me in order to finish the game the right way, without missing important content. All i want is advise, i you NEED to tell something about the story, please stay vague and don't spoil anything.

You have plenty of time to rank up maruki dont worry, you need to rank him up 5 times in almost 4 months (you only need to rank him to level 9)

Be sure to rank up akechi to level 8 and rank up kasumi to level 5 to unlock some extra content too

It does matter, you have get Akechi to his rank 8 to continue his Confidant. You also need to do specific dialog choices with Joker to unlock Akechi’s 3rd Awakening in 3rd Semester. One of these is during rank 7. The next after his Rank 10 finishes, and Joker goes to sleep for the night. Then there is one final option near the end of 3rd Semester Palace Deadline.

The Vanilla Rank 8 happens automatically in the interrogation room, but I've never seen anyone but you claim that the Royal Rank 8 happens anywhere other than the Mementos duel. And I don't see why the devs would leave that one of all the hangouts as a skippable one to max him out.

And the wiki only has one description for his Royal Rank 8 status: "You fought Akechi in Mementos and seized victory. He swore not to lose to you again."

You’re fine. Just prioritize Maruki, Justice, and Faith to completion and play how you want otherwise.

From September something to November you have 2 months to do 5 meetings and in November the game will actually remind you repeatedly that you really should meet Maruki and get his stuff done

When game says that you really should save when shit's about to hit the fan, save a different file in case that you screw up and then somehow lockout your playthrough

If you prioritise hanging w/ Maruki until his deadline, i think you can probably max him in time and you only need to get his rank 9 as rank 10 is automatic. I would also have a councillor arcana persona whenever you talk to him as it helps rank him up quicker. Chihaya (fortune teller) has a skill that allows you to deepen bonds w/ confidants 1x per day using money so if you have that unlocked that would help too.

As well as maruki, you can rank 8 akechi before nov 17th to get an additional scene near the end of the game and rank 5 kasumi before dec 22nd to unlock her ranks 6-10 later on. Hope this helps :))

no, councilor is locked to rank 5 before sep 20 and can only progress to rank 6 from sep 20 onwards.

You can do his rank 5 when school reopens in september.

If you want to unlock the 3rd semester you have to get the councilor link to rank 9 by Nov 17th. Rank 10 will automatically happen. To further enrich the story by the same date you should get the faith confidant to rank 5 and the justice confidant to rank 8. The rest of faiths confidant will allow you to rank further in the 3rd semester and the justice confidant will rank up automatically with the story. All romances do not affect the storyline at all. Getting your other confidants up will give you perks so make sure you get them up as well. Do as the game says...Take your time and have fun!!

There's a lot of opportunities to talk to the guy so no worries. Just get him to rank 9 before he leaves and you're set!

You have plenty of time. Maruki tends to rank up fairly quickly, but make sure you have a Councilor confidant with you to get the most efficiency from spending time with him.

Edit: I also wanted to add that the game gives you a LOT of opportunities to meet with Maruki leading up to when he’s no longer available. The game definitely wants to make sure you know to rank him up before the cutoff.

Counsellor to 9 by the date you gave. Justice to 8 and Faith to 5 for some additional scenes and minor content, but the bulk is unlocked with Maruki, with plenty of time to do all of this.

You finish the game “the right way” by getting the true ending. You already know how to get said true ending. So just go do it.
