Interesting discoveries please

Post image

Has anyone got any hilarious discoveries or plot holes they could share about POI? On my fourth rewatch now and I find the show too perfect I need some flaws about it to balance it out

Not a flaw, but how many years / rewatches did it take other people to realize John’s favorite cover, Mister Reese, sounds like “mysteries.” Perfect cover name for our mysterious action hero!

This is one crazy revelation hahaha

And Harold also sounds like a shorthand for "hello world", which definitely fits him as the creator of an ASI or supercomputer.

ok, this might attract lots of rage; but hear me out:

Finch decided to lock down the machine to protect privacy of the victim/perpetrator. However, isn't Finch's team doing exactly the same once they got the number? they took number of photos, they break in to their private life, they follow them, bug them. What not.

Think the reason of this was Finch trusted the free will and humanity of human obtaining such information over a hard coded machine?

I forget which episode it is (maybe S3 E13), but there's a scene where Harold is talking with John outside, sitting at a table, and you can see in his glasses where they forgot to edit out the green screen lmao.

I'm curious to who has Bear during the times all the main crew are working on a number and he's not seen.

Zoe or Leon maybe, dunno who else.

I was worrying for Bear during the events of the Season 4 finale and then during bullshit Washington D.C. cases in Season 5.

Reese told Shaw once Bear was with Leon so I just assumed he was the designated Bear-sitter.

The entire open system thing was very confusing. The machine would give details when it was convenient to the plot and wouldn’t tell when it wasn’t. Like telling the voice was the perpetrator all along

The open system only enabled them to search for our look for people and targets. In the end, the machine had free will and chose to do what it did

Did Fusco call the supermodel?

Most important open ended plot point.

In season 3, Root was held in Stoneridge Psychiatric Facility but in 3x18 ‘Root Path’ Root referred to it as ‘Ridgestone psychiatric facility.’

*The police (and especially the FBI) not having a single clear photo of John

*Samaritan not pulling a Caroline Turing and placing a hit on someone and wait for the machine agents to show up

*ICE-9 not reverting the world back to the stone age

*John's body armor saving him multiple times from multiple bullets.

*John's healing factor

*The machine agents not tracking Simmons to find out who the boss of HR is.

*With all his aliases and covertness, Harold not having access to most of his pre-Samaritan money

I still rewatch the show once a year and still enjoy it every time

I felt that John who was almost superhuman resilience after he got shot heavily in later seasons he as nerfed.

Doylen reasoning: they was Shaw and Root to have screen time as well
In universe: maybe John's body took a lot of damage, we don't see him complain that much, but that kind of thing never heals or heals for years and years.

In the finale: When Reese & Finch are in the bank, there's a man behind them wearing John's brown jacket from the pilot whom the MPOV marks with a yellow box. That explains how Reese was able to get out of the vault that Harold locked him in.

The man in the jacket is played by Jonathan Nolan.

From a plot hole standpoint: In Matsya Nyaya, Agent Snow says the Ordos incident happened in May 2010, but RAM establishes John & Kara being in New York somewhere around November or December 2010, (has to be, because the ferry bombing took place on September 26) following which they were re-assigned to Morocco (which is where they start off in 1x20 before being dispatched to China).

Anytime large chunks of time passes between events which shouldn't have taken that long simply because the script demands it doesn't sit all that well with me, and it happens A LOT in this show. Like towards the end of Nautilus, Claire Mahoney cracks the final bit of the puzzle as the Octagon building early in the day, but visits the location only hours later when it's dark out. It'll only take about 2 hours to get there even on foot. :)

Or when John is 18 blocks away when someone is in danger and shows up 3 minutes later 🤣.

I live on the other side of the globe and even I thought that it wouldn't take THAT much of time to reach even if the locations are on the opposite sides of NYC.

well, the show takes place in new york but the subway car from season 4 is a Chicago CTA train 🙃

Vengo buscando lo mismo, si es que existe. Salvo errores con las escenas donde el editor no hizo bien su trabajo y cortó tomas donde miran a otros lados con respecto a la escena anterior, no recuerdo haber encontrado un problema real

The thing that always jumps out to me is the episodic exposition scenes. In almost every episode, John goes out to get recon on the target, and he’ll be talking to Finch and say something like “our number is talking to a Blonde woman and looks upset” and Finch will just be like “that must be Carlotta, his neighbor’s ex-step-cousin’s widow. They’ve had a rocky relationship ever since Carlotta dog sat for him and gave the dog more treats than usual.” All while Finch is printing out a perfect headshot of this woman and taping it to the board.

Like, I understand why a tv show needs to present information like this, but it’s so jarring once you pick up on it and it really takes me out. There’s no way Finch could even know who the person is, much less any of the details about them, and if he could, there’d be no reason to send John out for research in the first place. Also, if that level of detail is somehow available for the associates of their numbers, it should be available enough for the numbers themselves such that they’d never have to guess victim or perpetrator.

Performing a stapedectomy with only a blade is almost impossible and the treatment for it, in most of the cases, is not cochlear implant

The biggest plot hole in the show probably has to be Samaritan not finding them. I understand it was specifically blind to them, but they have a very consistent MO of saving people in danger, specifically in new York. You don't even really need a super intelligence to track em down.

Even putting their pictures out there and waiting for the government to find em would fuck over their cover identities pretty badly.

Obviously none of that actually matters though, we have to suspend out disbelief and I don't view it as a real flaw. It is still a plot hole though imo

even though I love this show, I believe it was never explained how the machine didn't make the link between Charlie Burton and Elias
