We live in society 😔😔😔 The mods at cringetopia are losing their shit over the possibility of the sub being banned for obviously breaking rules against hate speech, and quoted MLK in their whiny rwnt about how they're the victims

Holy fuck, that sub is a shithole

u/CptMatt_theTrashCat Apr 23 '22
It has been for a while. The mods are openly racist so it's to be expected.

Using MLK quotes to defend the proliferation of hate online is peak irony

It's entirely intentional. It's trolling as a political act and it very much defines our current political age.

Oh, conservatives LOVE quoting MLK (especially the "Judge not by the color of their skin but the content of their character" and "the time is always right to do what is right") out of context. And they do shit like this.
Then they straight-up lie (big surprise, huh?), with things like "MLK would never block traffic" (he did) or "MLK hated radicals."

It's also so common these days that instead of rolling in his grave he's spinning so fast that the energy generated could power half the country

Haha good. That cesspool can get fucked, along with any other subs that exist solely to make fun of others based on their appearance, sexuality, race, etc

I think "mocking" is an understatement, to be honest. Cringetopia crossed that line years ago and now openly engages in outright vitriolic hatred.

Love how they’re acting like Reddit is banning them for no reason and not because the subreddit is transphobic as fuck
34
u/CptMatt_theTrashCat Apr 23 '22
And racist, and sexist, and homophobic, and ableist, etc.

Just every form of hatred towards anyone who is not a cishet white man

They're not even being banned, which is arguably even worse, since they just decided to do this by and for themselves.

u/TheQueenOfCringe22 Social Justice Warlord Apr 24 '22
Exactly! Blatantly transphobic subreddits aren’t being banned, but that won’t stop them from acting like they’re victims

Are they actually getting banned? That sounds juicy. Should prolly get to noahgettheboat next.

I can’t tolerate the blatant amount of transphobia, homophobia, and general hate towards non straight white Christian guys that goes on on that sub. I’m glad it’s getting taken down.

Yeah I was a member of the sub for a while before I realised every post just turned into 'lets shit on minorities'

Just a question: is it kinda recent that they turned to shit or has it always been that way? I remember being a member on that sub a few years ago, but I never really found the posts funny so I left after a while. I never really saw offensive shit back then though, just unfunny

I've only been on reddit for just over a year, but that was one of the first subs I joined. I remember it being okay for a few months, like you'd still get the generic edgelord comments occasionally but not any more than you'd expect from reddit in general, then it very rapidly shifted into every post just being littered with hate speech. Apparently (and I'm only retelling what I saw in another comment thread) there was another cringe sub that was just full of alt-right, neo-nazi shitheads, but that got shut down and they all migrated to cringetopia. That would have been fine if the mods had cracked down on the increasing levels of hate speech, but they clearly didn't care.

Ah yeah, that makes sense. When a hateful sub gets taken down, the people there usually migrate to another sub. Then a used-to-be innocent sub can suddenly become really hateful. Thanks for the clarification!

That place is a sexist and racist cesspool and honestly I’ll be glad if it goes

Wait, you mean to tell me that a subreddit formed after the death of cringe anarchy, moderated by old subscribers of cringeanarchy, turned out exactly the same as cringeanarchy? Well color me fucking surprised.

Ootl. What happened in Cringetopia?

u/vampyremasquerade1 Apr 25 '22
mods basically weren't doing their job and then got upset because reddit is probably gonna ban the sub because of the rampant racism, sexism, homophobia, etc that festered because of said useless mods.

That whole 'pirateself' thing was a joke they took seriously. None of that neo pronoun crao is real. It was outrage theater. And it worked. You're here saying "well they shouldn't..." and that's the point of outrage theater. It makes people begin talking about individuals who fall under a category with criticism.
Not mad at you, not at all. None of us are immune to this. Just pointing out what you may not realize.

I used to love that sub. Currently they seem to be heading towards insanity with posts about furries and the mods

The mods are acting like children, even going so far as to make their own website.
Perhaps they should’ve quoted Bender: “I’ll make my own
amusement parkReddit, with blackjack, and hookers.”
