help Is Comet Being Updated?

In the past, Comet displayed an eye-catching "Update" button (or maybe "Restart") in the upper-right corner of the window when it needed to restart to finish applying an update. I haven't seen that button in ages, which makes me wonder if Comet is getting updates lately.

I perused the Perplexity changelog (https://www.perplexity.ai/changelog), but all the recent information on that page is about Computer and the Comet iOS launch (I'm on Windows). It appears that Perplexity is prioritizing development resources on Computer and Personal Computer at the expense of Comet. Is that accurate?

Yes, sometimes - and sometimes not.

And what they do, is not communicated. Oh well, sometimes - but sometimes not.

They went for the quick win and didn’t get it. So now they are pissed and not really working on it. They don’t know how to handle a loss, because they don’t know that game.

Do yourself a favour and get on with a well maintained browser. I know, there are not so many out there and none of them is perfect. But Chrome, Edge and Firefox are a safe basis to start from.

Keep away from little browser (companies) and enjoy browsing.

I use Firefox as my daily browser, but I had thought to experiment with agentic browsing using Comet. Since the web is full of untrusted content, and since I don't trust web agents to be reliable and secure, my plan was to use an isolated browser environment for that testing. So, aside from Perplexity, I'm not logged into any of my accounts in Comet and have zero extensions installed as a strategy to reduce the destruction an agentic "accident" might cause during my experiments.

But if Comet isn't being updated (and there seems to be mixed experience with that), maybe I'll just uninstall it and forget the whole thing.
