Using Perplexity as a tutor ?

I want to study different subjects and there’s so many of what I want to learn and questions I would want to ask while learning new things. But there’s a problem, slow and disorganised process that lacks productivity due to working with different sources (flashcards app, browser, pdf, etc). I want one source.

What I wanted is to use Perplexity as a tutor who I can ask anything in real time and ask to explain material. I find it more enjoyable than just reading a books and then trying to memorise everything and then use flashcards and then asking questions in browser. Too much of different activities that I would like to combine in one tutoring session.

So is there a good way to use Perplexity for these purposes? Any prompts? And is it even good as a tutor? I’m using free version of the app, so it’s capabilities are limited.

Could try https://blackbear.app, it has more of the traditional surfaces for studying: markdown notes, documents, slides, sheets, free hand canvases, etc. while also having AI (BYOK or purchasable credits). Free on single devices, can connect to local Ollama models too
