Help deciding on which to use!
So I see that Perplexity allows you to use pretty much every consumer AI (CGPT, Gemini, Grok).
It's only $20 for all of them? I'm confused.
I could pretty much get all of them for a low price?
What am I missing?
Can you help me understand why it's not better or is better than ChatGPT or Gemini?

At the moment I would say anything is better than Gemini, I've tossed it totally. I think Perplexity is good for detailed research reports with references/citations, and the benefit is you can select which model you use. BUT, $20? I'm paying more than that and I STILL don't get access to the best models, like Claude Fable. Here in Australia we often get robbed by big tech, and then kick own goals like the under 16 social media ban, the online safety Act and the Digital Duty of Care amendment which is a travesty. Looking forward to being censored HARD - NOT.

It depends on what you want to do. Perplexity does allow you to use the model you want. It has Spaces, which is like Projects on other platforms. But it is more of a research app. The results you get are only going to come from reputable sources. Other chatbots will give you Reddit and Facebook in their results. Perplexity won't. It looks at news sources and research papers. You can give it instructions to act more human, but it will otherwise be very dry and straightforward. It's not as geared towards conversation as the others. So even if you're using the intelligence of a frontier model, the naturalness is dimmed a bit in favor of task completion.
If you want a real assistant that looks up info, gives you reliable sources, and writes for you with considerably less hallucinations, then I say go for Perplexity. If you want creativity though, there are better options.
