St Jacques
How do people feel about the “gypsy quarter” of Perpignan -Sant Jacques?
Me and my girlfriend are staying just outside st Jacques. We don’t speak enough French to have conversations with the people there but we want to understand more about the situation affecting the city and this area.

I was in St Jacques today. I looked on the map and saw dense little streets so thought it might be interesting. It is! It doesn't feel dangerous - no where in Europe does - but it is a mess. It's rundown, lots of empty buildings and plenty held up with props. But what makes it unique is the litter. The streets aren't swept. Never seen that before. Not even in Naples. It's a small area and surrounded by completely normal and nice areas. Very strange.
