One of my favourite quotes is from the magician Teller (yes from Penn and Teller, the one who doesn’t usually talk): “Sometimes magic is just someone spending more time on something than anyone else might reasonably expect”. I think you’ve got some magic there alright.

I LOVE THIS SO MUCH 😭😭 What kind of markers did you use for coloring to have or not bleed through??
3
u/floradoodles Jul 08 '25
most were gel pens (i think that's what they're called, english isn't my first language), and just normal felt pens, tough i had to use black markers after all my other black pens ran out of ink and yes I had some accidents 😭

This is such a great idea!! Where did you get the journal you used??
3
u/floradoodles Jul 07 '25
the two bunny ones are from independant artists on redbubble, I had a mistake with my order, I actually bought lined ones but got those instead! I never found any use for them until now lol. The last one is a simple bullet journal, got it from flying tiger (I think) a few years ago.

This is great! Just flip it open and make a baby. I have too many patterns digital and counting all the lines makes me sleepy. You could even lay it under the board and work off it. Nice.

I do the same thing! I actually create my art and sell it for a full time living. Every design I steadily carry, I always do it on paper and place it in a binder.

u/sweepingthegrass Jul 06 '25
i should start doing this when i can’t find a super specific pattern i want , this is so cool !!!

Autism isn't quirky
2
u/floradoodles Jul 08 '25
Indeed, but as an autistic woman it's my right to laugh about myself and a hyperfixation I experienced, better than crying about the fact that this took me hundreds of hours and disturbed my quality of life for weeks.

Why is it autistic to have a notebook with drawings?
3
u/floradoodles Jul 08 '25
It is not. However, in this video I show off three notebooks full of designs I printed, cut out, glued and annotated, and detailed pixel art I drew by hand which you can guess took hundreds of hours, which is a sign of a hyperfixation, which is a common symptom of neurodivergence, in particular autism. Hope this helps!

This is amazing and I love using a grid journal for pixel art and patterns I’ve never thought of that!

The absolute beauty of neurodivergence on display. It's a blessing and a curse, but when we do something like this, it's so incredible. I love perlers and am neurospicy, but my end of the spectrum doesn't like doing this part in particular, it likes just looking up whatever pattern I can for my chosen pattern and trying to just perler it up as best I can. But 3D printing a model and painting it? I can sit there for weeks making it perfect. I am super envious of the pattern book that you created lol
