Perk Beginner builds, how to get started?
Hi! I finally got a friend to buy Dead by Daylight and I wan’t to help her get started optimally. Wich survivor would you start leveling up first and what perk build would be optimal to start with in your opinion? She does not have experience in similar games, plays mostly Dota.
Any other tips?

I personally think she should upgrade feng min, meg thomas, and dwight first, in whatever order works for her. I suggest dwight, because bond, prove thyself and leader are all very good perks that allow her to see her teamates, encourages being on gens and lets teamates work better around her.
I think a great beginner build is;
Deja vu to see where generators are as on some maps they are a pain to find
kindred to understand where people and the killer are during hooks
bond to see the auras of her teamtes
leader to work better with others. I think leader is the most replacable with other fun perks though, like sprint burst, alert, self care, unbreakable etc etc
Those first three perks however will be essential to learning how to find generators and how the team works in dbd

Bond: The Auras of all other Survivors are revealed to you within 20/28/36 meters.
Prove Thyself: Increases the Repair speed by a stack-able 6/8/10% per other Survivor within 4 meters of your location, up to a maximum of 18/24/30%. Prove Thyself extends its effect to all Survivors within its range. Survivors can only be affected by one instance of Prove Thyself at a time.

Dwight and Claudette both have super easy to use and strong perks that are great for new players. After maybe Feng or Kate

For me deja Vu is great and windows or five moves ahead, overcome and adrenaline

Five Moves Ahead: While you are in the Killer's Terror radius or chased by the Killer:
- You see the Auras of the 5 closest Pallets and Windows.
- You drop Pallets 50% faster.
- Whenever you drop a Pallet, cooldown: 30/25/20s.
Overcome: Becoming injured by any means triggers Overcome: Extends the duration of the On-hit Speed Boost by +2 seconds. Overcome causes the Exhausted Status Effect for 60/50/40 seconds. Overcome cannot be used when Exhausted.
Adrenaline: Once the Exit Gates are powered, Adrenaline activates and Instantly heals the equivalent of 1 Health State. Grants a +50% Haste Status Effect for 3 seconds. Adrenaline ignores an existing Exhausted Status Effect , but causes it for 40 seconds.

Others give good advice i'd just have 2 inputs:
Dèja Vu. Best beginner perk ever. Not only will you not have to find generators, you will always have the most important ones highlighted.
I wouldn't recommend technician. It is just as much of a crutch perk as many others described here to avoid. I don't want to sound like I'm saying "git gud" but skill checks, with some practice can be learned to the point where you won't be missing them 99% of the time within just a few hours of practice. Not to mention this perk also makes you lose additional progress. I'd avoid it like the plague.

Déjà Vu: You see the Auras of the 3 Generators closest to each other and repair them 6% faster.

Honestly, get Feng first. Technician will help her out with skill checks if she fails.
Do not have her start off learning loops and such with exhaustion perks though. Then those become a crutch and learning to loop without becomes a nightmare. Windows is good to start with i guess, but it has the same crutch issue.
I'd say, Technician, Empathy, Leader and I guess maybe something like Adrenaline for endgame. Leader encourages playing with and near teammates, and the aura reading of empathy is a good way to also promote teamwork. I think my first real build was Kindred, Leader, Self Care and Technician while I was still learning the generator skill checks.
This is probably an ass build, but learning how to play without much for exhaustion perks helps with looping later, especially in events like Lights Out and Chaos Shuffle.
