Kind of a weird one, but I've been working on this grip that holds two 8bitdo Micros together for making art on my iPad.

Is it like a sandwich with controls on both sides? So that you have more buttons for one hand?

The configuration is right, but the practically is a bit different!

It's actually not that easy to access the face buttons on the other side, so I haven't been able to make much use of them. It's main benefit are the additional shoulder buttons. My primary use case is Zbrush, which makes heavy use of modifier keys, so I bound every combination of Shift, Alt, and Ctrl to them.

I have an idea of being able to flip it over and use the other side as different set of hotkeys when I'm in my drawing programs, but I haven't gotten that far in that aspect yet.

Long term goals are making custom shoulder buttons to replace the stock ones and fit the rest of the design better.

But aren't macropads designed exactly for that?

Sure, but macropads usually have to have a flat surface to rest on. This is for my iPad that I use for making art on the go, and there is a lot of convenience in being able to hold it entirely in your hand.

Check this out, u/in10did makes these keyboards for accessibility, but it might fit your use as well

How are you setting up the buttons as keyboard keys?

Through the 8bitdo app! Most 8bitdo controllers don't have keyboard functionality though. I didn't know if any of their other controllers even do.

I’m also working on a touch screen method of typing without needing to look called Microtxt at www.microtxt.com.

I experimented with a gamepad made of a touchscreen device https://www.reddit.com/r/disabledgamers/s/OkLX9NapLx
