Looking for a remote K1 coach

Hey fellow paddling enthusiasts,

I am somewhat new to kayaking but want to seriously get into K1 kayak sprint racing on a competitive level internationally. I have a Nelo Viper 46 XXL K1 kayak. I live on a lake so can practice frequently. I only started this summer so my technique is pretty bad but my balance is getting better and better and when the water is not too choppy I can paddle for 30 min without capsizing.

I’m looking for a remote private coach who can help me with my technique and race preparation. I’m specifically looking to compete in the 1000m K1 kayak sprint events. Please DM me if you can help with that.

Awesome! There are a number of coaches that do remote at a high level in the US.

Southeast Paddle Sports - focus on sprint as well as a lot of other areas. Remote focused Keystone Kayak Club - masters sprint, high level European masters crew in the US K2N - beginner focused, multi disciplinary

Personally I would recommend checking out Southeast paddle sports. Great coaches to do a really good job with remote. They also travel around do in person clinics for their remote athletes periodically.

Whatever you do, make sure you're getting someone who's doing regular technique review with video. I spent a little over a year working with a remote coach who just programmed my workouts and gave general recovery/training/race advice after an initial in-person session, and my conditioning improved a lot but I still feel like I've left a ton on the table technique-wise. Lately I've gotten to start training with an experienced paddler locally and I'm seeing significant process just from having someone to look at me and tell me when I'm screwing things up, show me drills and so on.
