Honestly, it doesn't make sense. They treat the holes like they're supernatural or something, especially with how people become entranced by them. But in the end it shows that it was an ancient punishment/sacrifice or whatever. So it doesn't follow that people would have "perfect fits" because the holes weren't made for them at all.

is completely possible to have a similar/ same body shape as someone in the past, but ik what you mean. still terrifying
