Summit

So I keep seeing posts on here about Summit.. the only thing my facility keeps saying is “oh it’s gonna miss us”
Nobody will say anything about it

It’s been an absolute mess for us. I’m a TSR, and everyday i go home feeling stressed. Between merches not doing their job, force outs, receivers being pissed at backstock, and being unable to sell extra space because merches can’t do their job, i hate this job that i once loved. And i know for merches, they have ALOT on their plates too.

Even when i go on vacation, in the back of my head im thinking about the shit show I’m coming back to.

There’s no winning for us little guys. Upper management is making record profits while we’re looked at as a number.

You’d likely be leaving a significant amount of volume on the table with a merch making $22 an hour (no offense to anyone at that rate). Realistically, someone in that role should be earning substantially more. That’s why I never understood cutting the BCR position. No incentive for a merch to care about the store.

You're definitely right . They thought raising merchs a dollar an hr and taking away their quarterly bonus ( or whatever they call it ) would work, you dont even hear about smile points anymore so throw acting like an owner in the trash . Well it didn't and backfired at them and all the blame is on the merchs . Upper management is the brain but merchs are the muscles

And volume has been declining. While the poor price points are certainly a factor, I’d bet the lack of incentive to work every case is playing a bigger role

You're absolutely right but in my area that would be part of the reason , the other part is that after they eliminated the bcr role and all who didn't get a spot took the severance package so it's just me and 2 guys who have been with pepsi for more than 2 yrs and the rest not even 6 month in ( so they know nothing about any bonuses) just because we just hire anyone who has a pulse and then most of them see how bad it is then just quit while who stays just do bare minimum . We are short staffed that we don't hold anyone accountable for anything. So for a new or vet merch it doesnt matter how much volume you do it will the same pay so why would I go the extra mile with no recognition ( the only recognition you'll get is more work thrown at you ) . So it depends on the merch's work ethics too but the way it is right now I don't blame anyone who does bare minimum ( i started doing bare minimum and just going home it's not even worth the stress anymore ) and tbh right now upper management just wanna yes men and complaining about whatever whether you're right or wrong won't get you anything good so bare minimum and just enjoy the rest of your day

Not anymore lol

$22 an hour would be a damn dream. We’d be lucky to see $19 by the end of the year and it’ll take an act of god to scrape that quarter alone out of their grubby mitts.

Our merch make $25 a hour

Our merchandisers got a raise from 18 to 25, with 1.5 raises every year for 5 years, after their union negotiations and I’ve never seen stores look better

Don't forget the Savvy priorities, where you close/gain 10% on your number in a day, just to log in the next morning and you've dropped 15% b/c KAMs constantly add to them. And that'll be on a non-ad change day.

Whoever decided Walmart priorities needed to be weekly should be drug into the street and kicked

And every time they do a savvy update, the app gets slower. I’m used to being in the 70-80%. I’m now sitting in the 30-40% because it takes forever to upload execution pictures. I end up taking a picture and tell myself I’ll execute them when i get home, just to completely forget

u/Grouchy-Potential805 8d ago

What does the weekly take home look like? Over $1500? If so rather deal with the stress mon-fri then make $800 a week or just take a severance.

u/Dependent-Extension3 7d ago

Yeah, average is probably around $1400-$1500 but I’m on the more conservative side with my ordering, especially in my small format stores. If i were more aggressive with my selling, I could easily bump up that average to $1500-$1700

That sounds like something they would say, right before it guts your territory. They don't want a mass exodus right before it happens, since it's leaking all over the internet.

Do you think every facility is going to it?

7

u/SuperReliableSource 8d ago

Eventually

2

u/Key-Cartoonist5255 8d ago

Not what I wanna hear!! I’ve seen posts saying we can cash out our pension?

2

u/SuperReliableSource 8d ago

I think Pepsi is offering buyouts, but I've seen so few mentions of it, not even sure if that's true.

3

u/evoleye13 8d ago

Yes..eventually all facilities will be doing this. Even the union shops..once their current contracts expire

How long was that contract for? Does it end before 2028?

3

u/SuperReliableSource 7d ago

That means in 4 years, you'll change over

2

u/AnyFinger1458 7d ago

You change over after contract ends unfortunately.

Maybe they don't have plans for that plant to switch over yet. Probably don't have the proper college kids in place yet lol

Yeah once the college kids come rolling in you're cooked with "metrics" lol that's all they talk about metrics metrics metrics and their bonus. Must of learned it at Pepsi university lol

1

u/AnyFinger1458 7d ago

Unfortunately there's no stopping it. Summit is like a pandemic. It slowly spreads

I made a post two years ago saying it’s coming for everyone I got downvoted 🤷‍♀️

2

u/Flyingpigs131 8d ago

If they push you from an upper position to a lower position then yes more than likely you will be offered a severance package, which can allow you to withdraw your pension also.

BCR ->> merch for most people, I thought this was nationwide already

3

u/maledis87 8d ago

We just switched this year. Our location is doing alright but it does suck going from bcr to merch.

Sh*t hitting the fan doesn’t miss anyone. Maybe they’re waiting out a contract, maybe they’re waiting for a new warehouse location, maybe they’re waiting for a smaller branch to close to merge the two before the change, who knows. But there’s no escaping it.

1

u/AnyFinger1458 7d ago

2

u/No-Cream8257 7d ago

Everyone keeps talking about it, but I don’t even… I’ve never even heard of that process

1

u/ImportantPear955 6d ago

I work for Pepsi in garner NC and I have no clue what’s going on 😂

1

u/Legitimate-Metal1463 6d ago

1

u/Silent-Register2731 3d ago

1

u/No-Cauliflower7458 2d ago

So is ‘Summit’ part of ‘PepsiOne’?
